Vinyl wrap vs paint job
A wrap changes the color and can come off later. Paint is permanent.
| Vinyl wrap | Paint | |
|---|---|---|
| Can be reversed | Yes, the original paint stays underneath | No |
| Protects the original paint | Yes, from light scratches and sun | Replaces it |
| Finishes | Gloss, satin, matte, chrome, color-shift, printed | Depends on the painter |
| Time in the shop | Days | Often longer |
| Resale | Remove it to sell in the original color | A color change can hurt resale |
Las Vegas sun is hard on any finish. On a wrap, the roof and hood see the most sun and wear first. Parking in a garage or under cover helps it last.
A wrap cannot hide rust, peeling clear coat or deep dents. Those need body work first.
Which one should you pick?
For a color change you can undo, or a finish paint cannot do, wrap it. For a permanent repair of damaged paint, paint it.
